In the Times of the Kaiser
On 1st June 2004 a small exhibition about the history and reconstruction of the chateau was opened on the ground floor.
Since 28th May 2005 the permanent exhibition entitled "In the Times of the Kaiser": The Habsburgs in Bohemia 1791-1914 has been on display.
It continues the exhibition The Habsburg Century that took place in 2004 in the Clam-Gallas Palace. It encompasses more than 300 exhibits borrowed from various depositories all over the country. Most of them were supplied by the Museum of Applied Arts, the National Gallery and the National Museum in Prague (paintings, weapons, targets, statuettes, pipes, glasses and other objects).
Two moving dioramas are a part of the exhibition. The first one evokes episodes from the defence of the Old Town Bridge Tower during the Pentecost uprising in June 1848, the second one shows the expected, but never materialized, coronation of Franz Josef I in Prague.
